Space Only

Space Only
Please review Shoptalk Europe’s rules and regulations here. It is your responsibility to ensure you have reviewed this in detailed and apply to each regulation.
Please ensure as a priority you pay particular attention to the following:
-
Height limits: 4m high, for 36sqm and above
-
Rigging limits: 5m from the top side of rig, for 36sqm and above
-
Open walling: Two thirds of each side must remain open
-
Electrical duct accessible hatching: All stands will sit over an electrical duct which will need to remain accessible throughout the event, this can be done by incorporating a hatch into any raised or platform flooring.
Permission to build will be granted once RAMS and plans show these rules have been adhered to. During the build period, each stage of the build process will be monitored and reviewed by Shoptalk’s onsite team to ensure regulations and plans are being adhered too.
Stand designers have a legal duty to ensure that the stands are designed to be fit for the purpose intended, structurally sound and safe to build, use and demount without any undue risks. To ensure the safety and suitability of all stands at the show, you will need to complete the below stand plan submission form.
In addition either you or your appointed contractor will need to submit the below listed plans and information to our stand plan approval contractor, Abraxys, by 24th April, so that these can be checked and approved.

Stand Plans; orientation of stand build in correlation with show hall, plan view showing dimensions and positions of walling, features, major exhibits and demonstration areas.
Only once you have received your authorisation to build can your stand plan be considered for production. It is therefore advisable to submit plans as soon as possible. Please be aware that once the authorisation form has been issued, any changes or amendments to the build will need to be re-submitted for approval. If you have any queries about the plan submission process, please contact Abraxys directly on [email protected]
Complex Structural Sign Off
A complex structure is any form of construction of any height, which may require input from a structural engineer. It is the responsibility of the stand designer to determine whether the construction is complex or not.
If your stand is complex, in addition to the items listed in the stand plan requirements above, you will also need to provide:
-
Structural calculations (must be in English)
-
Written confirmation from an Grao, Firas Structual Engineers, that the design is safe for its purpose (must be in English) Purchased via Fira
-
Complex structures will also require onsite sign off once built and a fee will occur to the sponsor directly.
Examples of Complex Structures:
-
Any structure, regardless of its height, which requires structural calculations;
-
Multi-storey stands;
-
Any part of a stand or exhibit which exceeds 4m in height;
-
Custom-built/bespoke suspended structures;
-
Sound/lighting towers;
-
Temporary tiered seating;
-
Platforms and stages over 500mm in height and all platforms and stages for public use (not including stand floor flats and platforms).
All suspended structures are considered complex structures and require load Distribution calculations and structural certification through the official stand plan inspection agencies, except: - Lighting trusses (without cladding) that use less than 10 rigging points. - Aluminum and fabric light banners with a maximum weight of 100 Kg per rigging point (including weight of the lifting elements)
If your stand design falls into any of the above categories then it will require approval from Fira who impose a charge for the structural engineer.
Any electrical works must be undertaken by GES, our appointed electrical contractor. You can purchase lighting and electricity via GES’s webshop.
Please note that on each block of stands, there will be an electrical mains power box connecting the booth to the power supply in the floor ducts which needs to be accessible at all times.
Should you have any electrical queries, please contact:
- Contact: GES via [email protected]
- Form: Click here
- Deadline date: 24th April for best pricing
The official contractor for rigging is Fira Gran Via; for health and safety reasons they must carry out all rigging onsite. Lighting rigs, structural rigging and banners are only permitted above Space Only stands.
All rigging is subject to approval by the Organiser and must be contained within the confines of the stand and may not overhang any gangways or neighbouring stands. All rigging must be stepped in by 1 metre from the perimeter a neighbouring stand. Rigging may not be attached to built/stand structures or be used for structural support.
If you have a Space Only Stand, you can request to order rigging via Fira Gran Via’s online webshop Servifira below.
